Kill Pipeline Roots Using Your Own Equipment
RootX is your answer to restoring pipe flow capacity — and keeping it that way. Save time and money by using your own crew and equipment to clear pipe blockages and eliminate the need to hire special contractors. Our products are simple, effective and proven. RootX is registered with the EPA and has a low environmental impact, making it the go-to solution for municipal systems nationwide.
The Effective Solution
The RootX formula foams on contact with water allowing it to reach to the top of the pipe where 90% of root growth occurs. The foam lifts and sticks the active ingredient, Dichlobenil, to the roots and to the top of the pipe. The formula strips away grease and grime which allows the active ingredient to penetrate & kill the roots. Dead roots will decay and break off and new root growth will be stunted, eliminating the aggressive grow back of roots that are simply cut. Regular maintenance with RootX will reduce if not eliminate Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSO's) caused by roots.
The flexibility of RootX applications allows sewer crews to tailor their root control program to their manpower capabilities without compromising the effectiveness of the treatment. RootX can be applied directly from the package or with an applicator that attaches to a jetter truck hose. These options basically provide root control on demand. With RootX, there is no need to wait for the contractor's availability or to invest in more costly methods.
RootX is not only much cheaper than mechanical cutting, but the treatment lasts longer. Mechanical cutting can immediately clear blocked pipelines, but like pruning a tree, cut roots will grow back—fully blocking a pipe in as little as nine months. RootX is guaranteed to keep 8-inch or larger municipal sewer lines free from blockages caused by live root growth for 24 months after application.
RootX is approved by the EPA for use in all 50 states, and has been used by municipal sewer departments and plumbing contractors nationwide for more than 20 years. RootX uses the aquatic herbicide Dichlobenil. It’s non-caustic, non-fumigating and non-systemic. RootX, and our Grease-X product, promote good bacterial growth inside the pipe line with minimal impact to the system and surrounding landscape.
